Explorations
The Polo brothers join an embassy sent by Hulagu Khan, ruler of the Ilkhanate Empire in
present-day Iran, Iraq and most of the former Soviet republics, to his brother Kublai Khan, ruler of the Mongol Empire in present-day Mongolia, North China and much of Western China. The Polo brothers arrived at Kublai khan’s court and sends them back to Venice for people to teach him Christianity.
Marco Polo became Kublai Khan's personal envoy and carried out mostly diplomatic assignments. Polo was able to explore different cultures and lifestyles on these trips. He would later write about these explorations in his book.
